Robbery Suspects Caught on Tape
Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department and Van Nuys Area detectives are asking for the public’s help to identify burglary suspects caught on surveillance video.
On February 2, 2013, at about 3:50 p.m., two suspects entered a jewelry store in the area of Coldwater Canyon Ave and Riverside Drive armed with hammers. Once the suspects entered the business, they started smashing the display cases and removing several watches. The owner tried to stop the suspects but was pushed away by the two suspects. The suspects with the items ran out of the location and into a light colored compact vehicle. The same two suspects were seen on a video in the store the day before posing as customers.
Suspect one is described as a Hispanic male, 25-30 years old. He is 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall and weighs about 170 pounds. Suspect two is described as a 20- to 25 year-old Hispanic male. He is about 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighs 150 pounds.

Officer Rescues Woman from Burning Tent
Los Angeles: Early this morning, LAPD Central Division officers pulled a woman out of a tent fire just moments before it was completely engulfed in flames.
Just before 3 a.m. today, officers on patrol as part of the Department’s Safer Cities Initiative were in the area of 5th Street and Towne Avenue when they saw a tent on fire with a silhouette of someone lying down inside. One of the officers approached the tent and made contact with the woman occupant. She started getting dressed, and within seconds, the officer had to reach in and pull her out to safety. As he did so, a small explosion occurred, and the tent went up in flames.
The Los Angeles Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire, from which the officer and occupant suffered minor burns. LAFD personnel treated the officer for singe burns to his arms and the effects of smoke inhalation. The
female occupant refused treatment, and both she and the officer were released from the scene. However, later this morning, the officer was taken to a medical clinic for further evaluation.
The fire was caused by a candle the occupant left burning while she slept, and the explosive sound resulted from a battery that caught fire. If it hadn’t been for the officer’s immediate action, the tent fire may have seriously burned or killed the tent dweller

18-Year-Old Missing Woman
Los Angeles: The family of Nancy Carrera and the Los Angeles Police Department are asking for the public’s assistance in finding her.
Carrera was last seen on March 3, 2013, at about 10:00 a.m., in her residence at the 1400 block of Hope St, in the Central Area of Los Angeles. She is very despondent and her family is extremely concerned for his welfare.
Carrera is described as a 18-year-old Hispanic female with black hair and brown eyes. She is 5 feet 2 inches tall and weighs about 116 pounds. She was last seen on foot. She was wearing blue jeans, black boots, gray hoodie and carrying a black back pack.

Multiple-Homicide Suspect Shot by Officers
Los Angeles: LAPD Southeast Area officers responding to a shooting call immediately discovered a man suffering from gunshot wounds in a pickup truck. Later, officers also found another victim inside a nearby residence, along with a suspect. Both had also been shot.
On March 8, 2013, around 2:20 a.m., officers were called to a residence in the 11500 block of Grape Street where they discovered a man in a pickup truck who had been shot. A short time later, they were directed to a suspect, 33-year-old Henry Salcedo, who was standing just inside the residence. As the officers approached Salcedo to make contact, he displayed a gun, pointed it at the officers and an officer-involved shooting occurred.
The suspect then retreated into the residence and the LAPD SWAT Team was summoned for negotiation assistance. Before the team arrived, Salcedo continued to shoot at the officers from inside the residence. About 4:15 a.m., a child emerged and informed officers that both his parents had been shot. Soon after, Salcedo was pronounced dead at the scene, and a woman who was later determined to be the child’s mother, died at a local hospital.
During the Los Angeles County Coroner’s subsequent examination of Salcedo’s body, it was determined his gunshot wound(s), initially believed to be self-inflicted, came from a shot an officer fired.
The three children in the residence, ages 1, 3 and 8, were not injured during the ordeal, nor were any officers. Eventually, the children were released into the custody of the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services.
The investigation will ultimately be reviewed by the Chief of Police, Office of the Inspector General, and the Board of Police Commissioners for compliance with the Department’s use-of-force policy, which states that an officer’s use-of-force actions must be objectively reasonable. Additionally, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Justice System Integrity Division will conduct a comprehensive review of the facts of the officer-involved shooting.

Los Angeles: LAPD Harbor Division detectives are looking for public assistance to identify armed suspects who robbed a liquor store at gunpoint.
On March 8, 2013, about 7:10 p.m., three suspects entered a store with guns drawn in the 1200 block of Pacific Coast Highway. They encountered a security guard immediately, took his gun and then removed money from the cash register before leaving. No one was injured during the incident.
It is unknown if the suspects left the scene in a vehicle or on foot, and detectives have few leads on the case. However, images of the suspects were captured on the store’s security surveillance system when they came through the front entrance. They are described as follows:
Suspect 1: A 20- to 25-year-old black male with brown hair standing about 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing around 140 pounds. He was wearing a blue and white hoodie with blue sweat pants, grey shoes and black gloves.
Suspect 2: A 20- to 25-year-old black male with brown hair standing about 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing around 150 pounds. He was wearing a grey “Hollister” hoodie with grey sweat pants, black and white shoes and blue gloves.
