Los Angeles:
Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) Hollenbeck Area Homicide
detectives need the public’s help in providing any information that
would lead to the arrest of the suspect(s) responsible for the murder of
John Anthony Neves.
On Sunday, March 17, 2013, around 8:23 p.m., Hollenbeck Area Patrol
officers responded to a radio call of a shooting in the 400 block of
South Avenue 19. When the officers arrived at the location, they were
directed to Neves, who was lying on the ground to the rear of his
residence.
Detective’s investigation revealed that Neves was sitting inside his
vehicle when an armed suspect(s) approached on foot and fired multiple
shots at Neves. Neves, was struck by the gunfire as he fled from his
vehicle. The suspect(s) fled the location.
Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and
pronounced Neves dead. The incident is believed to be gang related.
